Duluth harbor entrance webcam time-lapse
I made this video from images captured over a 48 hour period from the Duluth harbor entrance webcam at www.lsmma.com Notes: The tugboat in the lower left is an exhibit just outside the entrance to the Maritime Museum. Ships like to anchor just outside the harbor entrance while they wait for loading or unloading preparations to be made. That way they don't have to incur dock fees. You can see the shadow of the nearby Duluth harbor lift bridge in the evenings, with its characteristic shape. Just before the moon rises, you can see what appears to be a bright star rising to its right. That's actually Jupiter! What strange things are those people doing in the wee hours of the morning on that bench in the foreground? Well, perhaps not so strange… I wonder who the tour group was that was all wearing yellow shirts? You can see a balloon vendor tying some balloons to a stair railing early in the morning, which someone takes away in the afternoon. Tourists can rent little bicycle-like trolleys or whatever you call those, which they use to wander around with… see if you can spot them. Notice how everyone wanders over to line the pier as a BIG ship approaches. The medium-sized white boats are tour boats. You can see them exit the harbor, then circle around whatever ship(s) happen to be anchored off the harbor entrance, then come back and reenter the harbor.
