Inside Lausanne cathedral

Considered the most beautiful Gothic church in Switzerland, Lausanne Cathedral, originally Cathédrale Notre-Dame, was built starting in 1175. It was was consecrated in 1275 by Pope Gregory X. In 1536 the until then Catholic cathedral was stripped of virtually all its decoration: altars, statues, paintings becoming an evangelical church. The golden Virgin Mary statue was melted and the gold was made into coins. Che church has never been finished. It stands 500 ft. above Lake Geneva. This video was made using the Iphone 4 and with the help of the Imovies application.
